Pomegranates have long been used to treat sore throats, inflammation, and rheumatism in traditional folk remedies. Furthermore, recent scientific research suggests that they may be effective in both preventing and treating prostate cancer.

One study, conducted at the University of Wisconsin on human prostate cancer cells in lab dishes, discovered dose-dependent improvements. Another study at the same facility used human prostate cancer cells to inject into mice. These mice developed cancer. Some mice were given plain water, while others were given water mixed with varying concentrations of pomegranate extract.

Tumors grew much faster in the water-only mice than in the pomegranate and water groups. The amounts given to the mice were comparable to what people would get if they drank pomegranate juice every day. While pomegranate juice has not yet been tested on humans with prostate cancer, the results are promising.

The study did not specify which components of pomegranate juice were responsible for slowing the growth of prostate tumors. However, the researchers did mention antioxidant polyphenolic compounds, which are more effective than green tea and red wine.

Pomegranate extract not only inhibited cancer cell growth,

Apoptosis is a process by which cells die. Cancerous growths are characterized by uncontrolled cell growth that does not follow the normal processes of cellular differentiation that occur in normal, healthy cells. Cellular differentiation occurs when a cell's characteristics change and it acquires the functions of a mature, healthy cell. For example, liver cells, like prostate, breast, and kidney cells, have specialized liver functions. This is perfectly normal and healthy.

Although some cells fully differentiate in tumor growths, many only partially differentiate and some do not. Tumors with more undifferentiated cells also grow faster. Inducing cellular differentiation is thus one method of cancer treatment. The other two approaches used by doctors and researchers to treat cancer are to cause cancerous cells to die. They accomplish this through the previously mentioned apoptosis and necrosis.

Cell death is programmed into the cell when it is 'born' in apoptosis. As a result, the cell dies in a more natural manner that is less harmful to its surroundings. This means that it does not cause inflammation and the associated damage to healthy neighboring cells. Cells die when they reach cellular old age or when their death benefits the entire body. Inflammation, on the other hand, is caused by necrosis.

Prostate cancer grows slowly in most cases, but it is unpredictable and can grow quickly and spread.

re pomegranate seeds good for prostate cancer?

There is no reliable evidence that pomegranate reduces the risk of recurrent prostate cancer. This is because studies have shown that drinking pomegranate juice or taking pomegranate extract has no benefit.

What is the best fruit for prostate cancer?

Eat fruits and greens.

Include antioxidant-rich fruits like berries, cherries, plums, red grapes, and prunes. Cooked tomatoes are another healthy option for men with prostate cancer. Tomatoes contain lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that is more easily absorbed by the body when cooked.

What is the new breakthrough for prostate cancer?

The FDA-approved drug, called Pluvicto (lutetium Lu 177 vipivotide tetraxetan), is a new radiation pharmaceutical that is administered through injection or infusion. The drug travels throughout the body and targets cancer cells with the PSMA biomarker, a protein found on most prostate cancer cells.
