The European Union (EU) is taking a hard line regarding Sri Lanka. The organization emphasized the need to uphold freedom of expression and rights of citizens of the country.
The EU said this through a statement. At the same time Sri Lanka's new government has been urged to act on its commitments on GSP benefits.
The EU expects Sri Lanka to protect the freedom of expression and individual rights of its citizens in the democratic process, the statement added. The force shown against peaceful protesters in the past days is unjustified. We condemn him.
